That depends on what you mean by a \u201cpoint cloud.\u201d A LiDAR sensor outputs raw measurements in its own coordinate system, scan by scan. What is usually called a point cloud is the result of combining many such scans into one dataset. To achieve this, you need additional technology to track the LiDAR\u2019s movement, such as SLAM or inertial navigation.
Most LiDARs also include a vendor-specific viewer where you can visualize the data, save it, and replay stored scans \u2014 though typically on a scan-by-scan basis rather than as a fully merged point cloud.
